Orient’s players are delighted to still be in the FA Cup, but their focus returns to their League One promotion push after the win over Walsall.

Defender Elliott Omozusi was one of the star performers in the 1-0 victory as he covered for the injured captain Nathan Clarke in an unfamiliar centre back position.

Next up is Bradford away on Saturday, and the 24-year-old is expecting a tough game.

“Bradford will be difficult. It’s a tough place to go but we’re confident we can get a result,” said Omozusi.

“I know (manager) Phil Parkinson well from my time at Charlton and he works his players really hard.

“We’ve only lost two games in 19 which isn’t a bad return but the games are stacking up.”

The only player in League One who has scored as many goals as Orient’s suspended striker David Mooney is the Bantams Nahki Wells.

But the former Fulham defender is confident of stopping the Bermudan striker and is delighted with his own form following an extended run in the side.

He said: “I knew my form would go up with an extended run in the side. I’m enjoying it, every single minute of it. I enjoyed it at centre back. It helps when you haven’t got a 6ft 8in striker pinning you!”

From a team point of view, Omozusi thinks the O’s are just carrying on their form from the end of last season, which saw them miss out on the play-offs by a place and three points.

He added: “Coming off the end of last season we knew we’d have a shot but I’m not sure anyone thought it would go as well as it has.

“Without a doubt we can keep this form up. We’ve got good players and a lot of strong characters.”

Orient travel to Russell Slade’s former club Yeovil Town in the third round over the first weekend in January.

Despite their small squad, which was stretched to its limit on Saturday, Omozusi thinks the FA Cup still means a lot.

He missed the fifth round games against Arsenal three seasons ago and is itching for a good cup run.

“We’re delighted to still be in the hat, it’s important for the club,” Omozusi said.

“Dean Cox was feeling under the weather but somehow made it onto the pitch. That shows how much it means.”
