West Ham co-chairman David Gold is currently in hospital suffering with pneumonia.
Mr Gold, 76, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night, having attended the club’s match against Manchester United on Saturday while suffering from bronchitis.
Hi daughter Jacqueline tweeted on Wednesday: “My dad had a good night but is still on strong medication for his condition.”
“He is still very poorly but in good hands and obviously won’t be at the game [at Sunderland] on Saturday.”
She said earlier that he had learned a “very harsh lesson” about going to football matches while unwell.
He had spent time in hospital in February 2011 with septicaemia and cholangitis - inflammation of the bile duct - but made a full recovery.
