Two 20ft high topiary neighbours are the latest “residents” to move into EastVillage in Stratford.

The sculptures, which resemble two people having a chat over a fence, have been installed to represent the importance of community in London’s newest neighbourhood at the former London 2012 athletes’ village.

The pair have been created by Shipshape Arts, a group of artists and designers who build large-scaled outdoor installation at UK festivals, using a timber and metal wire framing covered by a plastic topiary material.
The topiary giants join fellow duo “Sweepers” which were re-located from the Southbank Centre in December.
Almost 300 residents have now moved into EastVillage, with further homes still available through private rental with Get Living London or affordable rental or purchase with Triathlon Homes.
Dale Meredith, executive director for Triathlon Homes, said: “This nod towards community-based spirit and neighbourhood is a perfect fit and we are sure that residents and visitors alike will make them welcome.”
