A 20,000 reward is being offered for information about the murder of a man in a Mile End nightclub.

Kelvin Easton died after being stabbed in the heart by a fellow clubber in Boheme club in Mile End Road on Sunday March 27.

The club was shut down last month after a licensing committee was told it breached a number of security conditions, including a lack of CCTV and a failure to vet clubbers for weapons on the night of the killing.

Footage from the CCTV tape was said to have been stolen in a witness statement later that night but this was later discredited.

The club also had an uneasy history with residents in the area.

Complaints about noise, drugs and parking problems were common.

Mark Taylor, chair of Mile End Residents’ Association, told the hearing: “If the licensee and manager had acted responsibly in the interests of public safety, the death of a young man would not have happened.”

DCI Charles King, from the investigating Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: “The Boheme nightclub was very busy on the night Kelvin was attacked.

“I am confident that there are people who saw what happened that night and I hope that this significant reward will encourage anyone with additional information to come forward. There are special measures we can take to protect identities and we will do everything possible to ensure witnesses remain anonymous.”

Information leading to the prosecution of the person or people involved will be rewarded.

Witnesses should call 020 8345 4142.

Three men aged 27, 25 and 23 and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the murder.

All have been bailed to return to east and north London police stations later this month.
