Boss praises Motormen following win at Mile End

Redbridge joint-manager Ricky Eaton was happy with his side’s ability to exploit Tower Hamlets’ defence in their 4-2 Essex Senior League win on Saturday.

Jacob Dingli scored a hat-trick and Joe Gent also netted at the Mile End stadium to earn Motormen their third successive win.

Eaton said: “Tower Hamlets are a difficult side to play against; they are strong and full of pace. But we managed to exploit their defence to get the goals to win the game.

“We planned to get at them early, but we had no real opportunities until the half-hour mark. And when we did get an opportunity their goalkeeper did really well to keep them out, so we weren’t too happy about that.

“But when we scored, we managed to score two within a couple of minutes, which was good.”

Dingli’s treble took his tally for the campaign to 11 goals, making him the club’s top scorer this term.

Eaton added: “Dingli’s goals this season have all been good and to get three in one game was good for his and the team’s confidence.

“I’m also really pleased with him and pleased for the team for the performance.”

Although Redbridge are scoring a lot of goals at the moment, Eaton revealed he was unhappy with the rate that his side are conceding goals.

“Scoring eight goals in our last two games and two each in the two games before that make us a real goal threat now, which is really pleasing,” he said.

“But we would like to keep out a few more goals, we are conceding too many.”

Despite a good run of form from his side of late, Eaton doesn’t believe there is a secret to their success and thinks that keeping it simple is behind the upturn in results.

“If there was a secret to our recent success we wouldn’t have been in such bad form at the beginning of the season,” he said.

“I think it’s a case of trial and error, seeing what works for us and keeping it simple. Previous to that, we were in bad shape, but we have improved a lot since that time and long may it continue.”
