Old Spotted Dog outfit prepare to entertain Airportmen this weekend who are pointless after two games in he division

London Bari boss Chris Davis believes that his team can not afford to ‘underestimate’ any side as his squad prepare to face Essex Senior League strugglers Stansted on Saturday.

Bari picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday evening, when an early Babajide Sonupe goal was enough to help them in a hard fought game against derby rivals Clapton.

Davis’ side will now look to build on that performance when they host the Airportmen, a team without a point from their two opening fixtures, however he is expecting a far from easy match.

“I sometimes think that people can underestimate this league as there are no easy games,” said boss Davis.

“No matter how badly a club is performing or how inconsistent a team is, they are always going to have the belief that one win or one draw can change their mentality.

“I’ve seen all the games they’ve played and I feel they have been quite unlucky; they are a team I do not want to underestimate, especially after the Enfield match because I thought that was our downfall.

“We played Stansted twice last season and we beat them both home and away, but I thought that they made the home game much more difficult for us, and they’re going to be stronger this year.

“In both fixtures we played against them they played differently, in the first they played a passing game and in the second they were much more physical and looking to play the ball forward much more.

“This year I expect them to play a mixture of both styles, with them trying to get the ball from the back to the front much more quickly.”

Following elimination from the FA Cup, this weekend gives Bari a great chance to make up ground in the league as many of their rivals play in the cup competition.

And Davis knows following the win in midweek a return to league action is best to ensure the momentum is maintained, adding: “Obviously I’m disappointed that we are out of the FA Cup, but I’ll be happy if we can get the three points on Saturday.

“We need to use the win in midweek to put a run together and start winning more frequently.

“I told my players on Saturday after the Enfield loss that we need to start wining to close the gap between us and the top teams, therefore if we win this weekend it gives us a head start in trying to close the gap.

“We want to be back close to the top of the table, so we need to start winning and then we can push on and improve from last season.”
