Romford matchwinner Nick Reynolds insisted points are more valuable than performances after his side picked up a second league win in a row on Saturday.

Boro twice came from behind at home to Brentwood Town to seal a vital 3-2 win at Ship Lane.

And Reynolds netted the decider with three minutes remaining to give his side three points in their fight to avoid relegation from Bostik North.

“The strange thing is over the last two games we haven’t played that well but have still taken the points,” he said.

“There have been times this season where we have played a lot better and taken nothing. But at this point I’m sure all everyone at the club cares about are the points.”

Romford spent the majority of the game on the back foot and went behind midway though the first half.

Jay Knight equalised for Boro 10 minutes into the second half, before the visitors retook the lead just a minute later.

Romford stepped up after that and equalised through Connor Hammond, before Reynolds’ deft header won the game for Paul Martin’s side.

Scoring the winner was a big personal achievement for Reynolds, who himself admitted that he hadn’t been in the best of form this season.

“The goal was much needed for me,” added the club’s all-time leading scorer, after opening his account for the current campaign with his 69th career strike.

“I’ll be the first to hold my hands up and say I haven’t had the greatest season so far, I’ve had a few injuries and have been away a bit, so I was happy just to be on the pitch, let alone scoring the winner.”

Romford host Grays Athletic in an Essex Senior Cup quarter-final on Wednesday before travelling to Maldon & Tiptree in the league on Saturday.
