A limousine caught fire on a main Tower Hamlets road over the weekend, shutting the Limehouse Link Tunnel in both directions.

Four engines and around 25 firefighters were called to an alight vehicle near the tunnel at 5.57pm on Saturday (June 24).

The incident was over by 6.06pm and crews from Shadwell, Poplar, Millwall and Plaistow stations were in attendance.

The limousine was damaged but the brigade could not confirm whether there had been any injuries.

A video shared to Twitter shows grey smoke being pumped into the air while the front part of the limousine is engulfed in orange flames.

Neither London Ambulance Service or Met Police said they were called to the incident.
