The victim of a fatal stabbing in Stepney has been named by police. 

It comes after officers were called to Duckett Street at around 1.17am on September 15 with reports of a stabbing. 

A woman was found suffering from stab injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Metropolitan Police revealed today (September 16) that the woman is 31-year-old Charlotte Lawlor.

Formal investigation awaits and enquiries are ongoing, though a Met spokesperson confirmed they are "confident" with the identification. 

Specially trained officers are supporting the victim's family. 

A murder investigation has been launched by police.
