The operator of a pub has been fined £20,000 for playing music too loudly.
The Dockers' Inn, in Wapping, was taken to court by Tower Hamlets Council after a resident complained several times about loud pop music with a heavy bass.
Officers from the environmental protection noise team confirmed the music was too loud.
Despite several letters and visits from the council, and a legal notice being served on the pub operators, the loud music continued.
The council took the company operating the pub, Dockers Inn Ltd, to court on January 21, 2025, and it was convicted in absence for noise nuisance.
Sentencing took place on February 18, and the company was fined £17,000 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £2,000 and costs of £1,299.
Councillor Abu Talha Chowdhury, cabinet member for community safety, said: "We want Tower Hamlets to be a vibrant place to live, work and visit, but establishments which cause a nuisance to local residents will not be tolerated.
"I encourage anyone who is struggling with inconsiderate noise to report this to the council so we can look into it.
"We will always act and will take companies to court when necessary.
"Thank you to the council teams who worked tirelessly to secure this outcome."

The council said the environmental protection noise team is available to respond from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday or the out of hours noise response service is in operation on Thursday to Sunday evenings from 8pm to 3.30am.
