Tower Hamlets' mayor has expressed disappointment at the borough's A-level performance.
Pupils in the borough performed significantly below the London and national average last year, according to the council's annual school performance report.
The report, discussed at the cabinet meeting on March 26, revealed that only 6.4 per cent of students achieved A*s, compared to almost 16pc in London and 14pc nationally.
Executive mayor Lutfur Rahman expressed disappointment at this underperformance at key stage five.
He requested the drafting of options for a stand-alone attainment service and school improvement service to ensure excellence across all key stages of education.
Despite this, the mayor expressed pride in the administration's record on promoting educational opportunities, highlighting policies such as the educational maintenance allowance, university bursaries, free school meals, and free school uniform grants.
The cabinet also discussed the strategic plan, budget monitoring, waste services, and other key issues, approving the annual delivery plan and addressing budget concerns.
