A cyclist has been rushed to hospital "as a priority" after a crash with a car in Poplar.

Emergency services were called to East India Dock Road, at around 10.15am today (April 19) after a crash involving a car and a bike.

Both Metropolitan Police officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene.

The cyclist sustained injuries, but these are "not believed to be life changing", according to a spokesperson for the Met Police.

She was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews, before being taken to a major trauma centre "as a priority". 

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.09am this morning (Saturday, April 19) to reports of a road traffic collision the junction of Birchfield Street and East India Dock Road, E14.

"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and it arrived in six minutes.

"Our crews treated a woman at the scene, before taking her to a London major trauma centre, as a priority."

A spokesperson for the Met Police said officers attended the incident alongside the LAS, after being called to the scene at 10.17am.

A13 East India Dock Road was closed in both directions after the crash, at its junction with Burdett Road, and there was "serious" delays in the area according to Transport for London (TfL).

The road reopened at 12.21pm, a Met Police spokesperson confirmed.
