Mulberry Wood Wharf Primary School, Canary Wharf praised by Ofsted

Mulberry Wood Wharf Primary School in Brannan Street was visited by the education watchdog in May and the findings were made public on June 20.

It was deemed 'good' in the categories of 'quality of education' and 'leadership and management' and 'outstanding' in 'behaviour and attitudes', 'personal development' and 'early years provision'.

Inspectors found that "pupils thrive" here and prove themselves to be "caring citizens who know how to keep themselves safe and understand they have a role to play in looking after others".

The report said pupils are taught the learning habits of creativity, resilience and respect and new pupils who join part way through are made equally welcome because the school fosters inclusivity "exceptionally well".

The school opened in September 2022 with one reception class and now has two reception classes, two year one classes and one year two class.

As well as praising the behaviour of pupils and the ethos of the school, Ofsted described the curriculum as "ambitious and well sequenced".

They use newly acquired language from the story "with precision" when performing to an audience.

Inspectors also reported that staff quickly identify any pupils who need additional help and put in place a range of "immediate and effective support".

This results in pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), becoming "fluent, confident and enthusiastic readers".
