A road in Isle of Dogs has been shut by police after a gas leak.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to the incident in Glengarnock Avenue at around 7.30am this morning (August 9).

Metropolitan Police also put a cordon in place in the neighbouring street of Manchester Road.

There have also been reports that people have been evacuated from their homes.

Pictures from the scene show that the police cordon has been put in place close to the parade of shops at 139-149 Manchester Road.

Fire crews from Millwall, Plaistow and Shadwell remain at the scene.
