A former Apprentice contestant and business leaders from Amazon and Delta Airlines judged a live trading competition between more than 200 teenage entrepreneurs at Old Spitalfields Market today (Tuesday, February 24).
The event, organised in partnership with Young Enterprise, saw 49 teams of students take over the trading floor from 10am to 3.30pm, selling products to the public and competing for awards including Best Trade Stand, Best Customer Service, and Best Social Impact.
The students have been running their own businesses since the autumn, managing product development, marketing, and finance alongside their studies.

Sarah Porretta, CEO of Young Enterprise, said: "Young people today are increasingly entrepreneurial. They’re ambitious, creative and hungry to build something of their own. But ambition alone isn't enough, they need opportunities to turn that drive into something tangible. That's exactly what this competition offers."
Judges will include Mia Collins, a former Young Enterprise participant and Apprentice contestant, along with senior figures from Amazon, Delta Air Lines, and Wells Fargo.
Old Spitalfields Market, with its long history of supporting independent traders, is seen as an ideal setting for the event.
Small businesses currently employ around 60 per cent of the UK workforce, highlighting the value of supporting young entrepreneurs.
