A male has been rushed to hospital after being "assaulted" in Whitechapel, London Now reports.

The alleged assault was reported to emergency services shortly after 3.40pm this afternoon (February 28) on Whitechapel Road.

An ambulance crew, incident response officer and members of the tactical response unit were dispatched to the scene.

A male was found injured at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre as a priority, as reported by our sister title London Now.

His condition is not known at this stage.

A scene has been set up on the pavement near to the corner of Davenant Street, with multiple police vehicles seen in attendance.

We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for further details.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.41pm today (28 February) to reports of an assault in Whitechapel Road, E1.

“We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and members of our Tactical Response Unit to the scene.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
