A man has been arrested after a knife and drugs were found near an east London mosque, reports London Now.
Police were patrolling around the mosque in Bethnal Green last Friday (March 6) as part of a Ramadan operation in partnership with Tower Hamlets just before the arrest.
During the early afternoon, officers next to the mosque were flagged down by a member of the public who reported a driver possibly had a knife on him.
Officers stopped the car and detained the driver to search for weapons, reports our sister-site London Now.
A knife and “multiple” sacks containing dried cannabis were found.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.
His home address was then searched and officers reportedly found a bin bag containing further cannabis, digital scales and a small quantity of cannabis buds, the Metropolitan police said.
