Elite runners will race through Canary Wharf this September in a new closed-road 5K event.
The SportsShoes Podium Run the Wharf elite wave will take place in Canary Wharf on September 3, as part of the wider Run the Wharf event.
The race is organised by SportsShoes.com in partnership with Friday Night Lights, the events company behind a series of music-led 5K night runs in UK cities.

Mia France, race coordinator at SportsShoes Podium, said: "Our first closed-road Podium race in Canary Wharf gives runners the opportunity to race against people running at a similar 5K pace, which is great motivation for anyone chasing a PB. We know this closed route is perfect in allowing runners to race hard, all with the stunning Canary Wharf skyline in the background as the sun goes down."
A total of 300 places are available, with qualifying times set at sub-18:30 for men and sub-20:00 for women. Prize money will be awarded to the top finishers.
The SportsShoes Podium 5K series has attracted thousands of UK and international athletes since it launched in 2023, including Olympians Emile Cairess, Beth Potter, Alex Yee, and Narve Nordas.
The 5K route will take runners from Cabot Square to Riverside, down to Harbord Square Gardens, and along the waterways of Canary Wharf.
The elite wave will be the first race of the evening, starting at 6pm from Canada Park Square.
All runners are invited to a post-race social with street food vendors, pop-up bars, and live music.
