Mini Olympics have sprung up across the capital for those of us who have missed the Team GB cut for the greatest show on earth.

The initiative has seen 99 tiny Olympics introduced across the 33 London boroughs. with three sites in Tower Hamlets.

These sites are home to games which are designed to be happened upon by local residents, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the rules and start playing within minutes.

The equipment required for the games to be played will be contained within the surrounding area, and instructions will be supplied on laminate posters. The scheme is part of the Mayor of London’s “Showtime” festival which coincides with the Games to bring Olympic fever to every corner of the capital.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “Londoners and visitors alike will have the opportunity to come together to play miniature games in locations right across the capital. It’s another way to bring the community together at this special time for our city.”
