Teenager Ciaran Constable will become the first Green Spring Academy Shoreditch to secure a place at Cambridge.
Ciaran achieved grades A*ABB in his maths, physics, chemistry and drama A-level exams. He hopes to become a researcher and lecturer after completing his degree in natural sciences.
“My foot’s now in the door and the only way is up,” he said.
Another success story was Mithila Sharmin. She was left “overwhelmed” after her two A* grades in Italian and maths, and two As in biology and chemistry gained her a spot at University College, London to study medicine.
Nearly half of all A-level students at the school in Gosset Street, Tower Hamlets, achieved A*-B grades or equivalent, with 72 per cent at A*-C.
“The achievements of our students come as truly deserved rewards for the dedication and hard work they have put into their studies,” said acting head of school Jennie Montgomerie: “we wish them every success in the future.”
