SPARE a thought next time you sign your name for people like Rose Bush, Barb Dwyer, Anna Sasin and Justin Case.

The unfortunate monikers have emerged in a month-long study of the most bizarre names in Britain registered on the worldwide web.

Other names making it onto the list of Most Unfortunate Names in Britain compiled by The Baby website include Stan Still, Mary Christmas, Paige Turner, Chris Cross, Barry Cade, Sonny Day, Pearl Button, Hazel Nutt, Terry Bull, Lee King and Jo King.

"Many parents naming their children probably didn't even realise the implications at the time," explained website publicist Ima Spokesman.

"There must be tremendous embarrassment every time the youngsters have to introduce themselves, especially in a crowd. Even their teachers must have had to hold back their smiles sometimes."

Parents need to think carefully when choosing names for their children, the website urges, as their names will be with them for life.

America is a haven of weird names including Annette Curtain, Bill Board and Carrie Oakey, the researchers found. Some have names linked to their professions, such as Dr Leslie Doctor, Dr Thoulton Surgeon, plastic surgeon Dr Payne and dentist Les Plack.
