VICTORIA park was became a hub for a cultural exchange this weekend as musical acts from across the globe flocked to the East End for the World City Music Village festival.

Musicians performing Balkan and Middle eastern dance music, Bangladeshi folk songs, Polish gypsy music and Columbian salsa took to the stage on Saturday and Sunday to entertain the crowd enjoying the sunshine.

Festival-goers ate picnics on the grass while listening to music performed by 60 different acts across the two days of the free festival, including Hackney-based Congolese band Kasai Masai, Irish singer and Bow resident Terence O'Flaherty.

The Music Village festival started in 1983 and organisers aim to provide a platform to artists from 80 countries so people can learn about and openly celebrate each other's artistic traditions.

The festival will continue this weekend in Hyde Park.
