A13 East India Dock Road closed by police after man found dying outside DLR in Poplar

Detectives are investigating a suspicious death in east London during the night after a man was found dying in the street who they think may have been attacked.

Police responding to a 999 call from the public around midnight found the man in his 30s badly injured outside All Saints DLR station in East India Dock Road in Poplar.

Emergency paramedics tried to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene 20 minutes later.

Detectives from Scotland Yard’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are now trying to find out what happened.

The man’s family had not been traced this-morning. Officers think he may have been assaulted.

Forensic officers are have cordoned off the area. The A13 East India Dock Road has been closed to traffic in both directions between the traffic-lights at Burdett Road in Limehouse and Cotton Street in Poplar. Drivers are being diverted.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in East India Dock Road at about midnight last night, or anyone with information, to call the incident room on 020-8345 3985.
