VERIFICATION of ballot papers has yet to finish but party activists are predicting a Labour gain for Rushanara Ali from Respect and that Jim Fitzpatrick will beat George Galloway in the newly created Poplar and Limehouse seat.
Labour supporters seem quietly confident and Respect are looking unhappy.
There seems to have been a surprising number of Conservative votes in Bethnal Green and Bow, rival activists say.
