Please run and support us

Denise Largin, chief executive, The Camden Society, writes:

We are a charity that supports people with a learning disability in Southwark, Greenwich, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets to live their lives to the fullest, free from discrimination.

We have two places for the Big Half half-marathon on March 4 and we’re on the look-out for runners who’d like to help us raise at least £300 by taking part - regular places have already sold out.

The Big Half is the first of its kind demonstrating how sport and the community can get together to inspire social change.

Starting at Tower Bridge and finishing in Greenwich the route winds through Southwark, Greenwich, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets.

Our services ensure that the people we support have a choice. With your support, we can help even more people with a learning disability to live the life that they choose.

If you are ready to take up the challenge and want to raise

money for a great cause, then

we want to hear from you! Email us at admin@thecamdensociety.co.uk and we’ll send you details of how to enter our draw.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Veterans’ mental health event plea

Robert Marsh, director income generation, Combat Stress, writes:

On June 9 I will be taking part in Nightrider London, a moonlit charity cycle ride, to raise vital funds for Combat Stress, the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health.

As the director income generation at Combat Stress and a former serviceman myself, I’m proud to work for a charity that helps veterans with mental health problems rebuild their lives.

Each year we receive more than 2,000 referrals from former servicemen and women struggling with their mental health.

It’s really important that we raise funds for the charity to ensure we can continue to provide support to every veteran who comes to us for help, events like Nightrider are a great way for us to do this.

We’re keen to have lots of people join Team Combat Stress at the event to help us raise as much money as possible for the charity. There are two routes available, either a 100km or a 50km ride, and it will be a fantastic way to see the sights of London at night whilst raising money for a really worthy cause.

Readers can sign up by visiting combatstress.org.uk/nightrider.

I hope to see some of you there.
