Railwaymen manager Steve Davis offers views on what has gone on at Brisbane Road since Francesco Becchetti took charge in July 2014

Leyton Orient manager Alberto Cavasin wants to see another strong performance at home to Crewe Alexandra this weekend.

The Italian watched his team beat Hartlepool United 3-1 on Saturday to lift spirits at Brisbane Road.

Ollie Palmer was the hero with two goals, although the 61-year-old O’s boss was quick to praise all of his squad.

“The performance on Saturday is now the average of all of the team,” said Cavasin via a translator.

“Ollie is a striker so it is natural he goes for goals and scores, but at the other end Alex Cisak is making incredible saves.

“These are the players you notice the most because they are in very important positions of the pitch.

“I appreciate even the players that had cramp at Hartlepool and it is very satisfying because it means the team have given their best.”

Cavasin’s opposite number this weekend, Crewe boss Steve Davis, discussed Orient’s plight in recent years.

The Railwaymen manager admitted the east Londoners haven’t had much stability, but that is now becoming the norm of football.

“Leyton Orient has changed dramatically over the last few seasons with the new Italian owners coming in,” Davis told the official Crewe website.

“Every club is different and how they run it is completely down to them. They probably haven’t had the stability they would have wanted with different managers coming and going but that is happening more and more in the game.

“Managers are not given time and it is about getting instant results. It is all a bit short-term and not so much about giving a manager time to development players, building a team or implementing a structure and business model.”

Although O’s initially adapted well to life in League Two after relegation, they failed to reach the play-offs last season.

This year has been even tougher and they are only just above the bottom two despite targeting promotion again.

Davis added: “The struggles of Orient over the last few season’s show that this is a tough league.

“It is not easy. They were on the verge of reaching the Championship not so long ago and lost out in the play-offs.

“The league is relentless, physical and there are good coaches, who set their teams up to make sure they are difficult to beat. We have faced some powerful teams and we have to meet that challenge.”
