Australian goalkeeper discusses previous meeting and international aspirations

Goalkeeper Alex Cisak admits Leyton Orient need to get revenge on Crawley Town when the two clubs face off in League Two tomorrow (Saturday).

Kevin Nolan’s men welcome the Sussex outfit to Brisbane Road hoping to pick up three points and move back into the play-off positions.

The last time the two teams faced each other, the Reds defeated the O’s 3-2 with Alan Dunne received a red card.

But Cisak didn’t spend the week leading up to the fixture training with his club team mates, he was away on international duty with Australia.

He was in Bangladesh for a FIFA World Cup qualifier, but his preparation this time has been less disturbed.

“Every time you lose you think you can do better, the ones when we haven’t won or got a draw we have looked back and thought we could have got three points,” said Cisak.

“It was disappointing and I guess we owe them one so hopefully we can work hard and get the victory.

“Last time I got back on the Friday before the game so I was a bit knackered and we lost 3-2 which was quite disappointing.

“We didn’t play very well as a team, but hopefully we right that wrong and get the three points on Saturday.”

Although training with Australia was an inconvenience to Orient’s plans when they faced Crawley before, Cisak has enjoyed his time with the Socceroos.

Their next round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers are over Easter as they face Tajikistan on March 24 and Jordan on March 29.

If called up, the former Burnley stopper could miss the O’s fixtures against his former club Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool United.

Cisak added: “I have been in a few Australia camps now and it is a really good experience for me.

“They have great players and coaches and that experience of being in a World Cup qualifier is brilliant so it is good for me and hopefully it improves me in the future.

“Of course I want to be involved, everyone wants to represent their country, but Australia have some outstanding goalkeepers.

“I’ll have to wait and see if I get called up and go from there, but obviously it would be a great honour for me to get selected by Australia again.”

If Orient continue keeping clean sheets then Cisak may well end up jetting off on international duty next month.
