Leyton Orient goalkeeper Alex Cisak hopes Jay Simpson can score lots of goals again for the club this season – starting at Notts County tomorrow.

The ex-Arsenal forward is set to be involved again this weekend when the O’s make the trip to Meadow Lane.

Last Saturday Simpson impressed off the bench during the 1-0 League Two defeat at home to Yeovil Town.

He only played the final 27 minutes at Brisbane Road, but it may be enough for him to earn a start against the Magpies.

“Jay is a great player and was obviously our top goalscorer last year and he is a great finisher,” said Cisak.

“It is good to have him back and hopefully he stays fit for the rest of the season and score a lot of goals for us.”

Nigel Atangana made his return last weekend after struggling with a groin problem at the start of September.

Orient’s number one was full of praise for the midfielder and pleased boss Andy Hessenthaler has plenty of options to choose from again.

Cisak added: “Nigel came into the team before his injury and did really well. The injury must have been frustrating for him.

“It is good to have him back and it is more options for the gaffer and hopefully he can help the whole team out.”

Even without Atangana and Simpson in recent weeks, Orient have been able to cope fine on the road.

They’ve taken eight points out of a possible 12 in their away games this season, which is in contrast to picking up just a solitary victory out of four league matches at Brisbane Road this season.

“We have been doing well away from home so hopefully we can capitalise on Notts County struggling at home,” said Cisak.

“For some reason it is just not clicking for us at Brisbane Road, but once we get that one win then we can maybe get a second one. That way we’ll get a run going and make it into a fortress.”

Orient will aim to continue their strong away form tomorrow and then concentrate on sorting out their results at home.
