Campaigners fighting public service cuts are putting up candidates for the London Assembly election on May 3 and launching their ‘alternative’ manifesto in the deprived East End on Monday.

The Anti-Cuts Alternative begins its electioneering with a public meeting at Bethnal Green’s Oxford House community Centre at 8pm.

Three candidates are addressing the meeting, Tower Hamlets GP and ‘Keep NHS Public’ campaigner Jackie Turner, RMT rail union London organiser Steve Hedley and sacked library worker and Unison activist Nancy Taaffe.

They are calling for support for the Trade Unionist & Socialist Coalition’s London-wide list for the Assembly on a manifesto opposing all public service cuts and against any privatisation.
