SCHOOLGIRL April Partridge has been named regional Young Chef of the Year after cooking up a meal to please the palates of the London Rotary judges.

The 15-year-old from Chingford’s Heathcoate Secondary in East London (pictured left) cooked her way to the top battling it out against 13 other budding Jamie Olivers’ from schools across London and Essex on Saturday (February 21).

Coming second was another 15-year-old East London schoolgirl, Fatima Olyabek (right), from Connaught High School in Leytonstone.

The competing youngsters had to cook a two-course meal for two costing no more than £7 and were judged on their culinary skills, health’ of the menu and overall presentation.

April now goes on to the national finals of the Rotary Young Chef competition next month, pitting her skills against youngsters from all over the British Isles.
