Dear Editor, I PROTEST at the threat of the Bancroft local history archives at Mile End being split up. Dear Editor,

I PROTEST at the threat of the Bancroft local history archives at Mile End being split up.

If some stuff is moved to the Royal London at Whitechapel, what happens to it when the hospital is rehoused in new premises?

It is particularly upsetting as the Bancroft collection includes items sent to them by my mum.

It is upsetting that our local history is being treated so shabbily by councils all over the country. It seems they are trying to destroy all trace of us.

Ordinary people are being thrown to the wolves and we are not allowed to have any pride in our ancestors.

Despite the poverty and the wars, our ancestors survived and made the most of what life had to offer without self pity.
