Dear Editor,

MAYOR of London Boris Johnson and his cultural team have been briefed extensively about our heritage library at Bancroft in Mile End. I have also ensured that the Opposition Parliamentary team at Westminster have been briefed.

Apart from the ruling group on Tower Hamlets Council, no one in any political party can understand why the archives should be dismantled and broken up.

As such, this is not a matter for partisan point scoring, but one where common sense needs to prevail.

Cllr Peter Golds (Con)

Opposition leader

Tower Hamlets Council

Town Hall, Blackwall
