A MAN who plays in a steel band has been appointed new bank manager at an HSBC branch in London's East End.

Sunny Chandra, at 26, is the youngest to join the senior branch management team in the bank's East London region.

He has been appointed to run its Whitechapel branch in Whitechapel Road, having been with the banking group since 2003 when he joined the graduate trainee programme.

Sunny, in his spare time, is a member of a Caribbean charity steel band called the Ocho Rios and performs at carnivals, weddings and parties across the country when he's not busy at his desk.
