Doctors in east London have been given a ‘clean bill of health’ on the Isle of Dogs.

The Barkantine GP Practice in Millwall has been rated ‘good’ by government health inspectors.

It was one of 72 practices up and down the country passing inspections by the Care Quality Commission.

Only five of the 83 surgeries inspected in this latest round require improvement, the commission says, while only four are said to be inadequate.

“However, we still see evidence of too much poor care,” Chief Inspector Prof Steve Field said.

“We have found 270 practices inadequate since we began inspecting surgeries in 2014, which amounts to half-a-million patients not receiving the basic standards from their GP practice.”

But most practices like the Barkantine in West Ferry Road (pictured) were said to be of good standard.
