THE RELAUNCH of a lost novel set in Bethnal Green is being celebrated this week.
Alexander Baron's 1969 novel King Dido about a king of the underworld causing havoc in the East End of the 1900s at a time when police and racketeers maintained an uneasy peace has been reissued by Five Leaves Publications.
The book launch is at Bethnal Green Library in Cambridge Heath Road at 7.00pm on Friday. Copies of the book will be on sale and refreshments will be available.
Ken Worpole who interviewed Baron in the 1970s and wrote the introduction to the new edition will be joined by Nick Baron for a discussion about Alexander Baron and East End writing at 7.30pm.
