Small businesses fire off a revolution with a Bastille Day social on Friday in Shoreditch to show that East End trade is thriving.
It is part of an East End Trades Guild campaign for a ‘fair deal’ for small businesses fighting rising rent and rates, encroachment by City corporations and including a petition to Downing Street.
“This is a chance to pay homage to local traders,” guild founding organiser Krissie Nicolson said. “We want people to be part of the small business revolution on Bastille Day—and have a knees-up at the same time.”
Among ‘locals’ turning up at St Leonard’s Shoreditch Church are the neighbouring mayors of Tower Hamlets and Hackney, John Biggs and Philip Glanville.
Friday night’s fundraising Bastille Day shindig begins 7pm, tickets £20-£25.
