Scrubland used as a rubbish dump has been turned into a green oasis with the help of young scouts.

Beavers from the 11th Newham West Scout group based in Evesham Road, Stratford, helped transform the patch of flytipped waste ground recently.

They teamed up with local residents in the Ham Park Village area of Stratford to clean up an area in Hartland Road littered with rubbish and empty drink bottles and cans.

June Grigg, Beaver Leader of the 11th Newham West Scout group, said:“Shrubs were planted as part of an initiative by local residents to brighten up the area and reclaim the land for the community.”
