A PARLIAMENTARY hopeful launched a campaign today against clamping in Tower Hamlets, two weeks after he was arrested over a parking row.

Ajmal Masroor the Liberal Democrat prospective MP for Bethnal Green and Bow was one of three men arrested for criminal damage after he got involved in a row which broke out outside his office in Spitalfields and has now launched a website petitioning Tower Hamlets council to end clamping and towing in the East End.

Mr Masroor said that since his arrest he has received more than 200 emails from concerned East Enders complaining about their clamping misery.

At a press conference today he said: "I think people in this borough are sick and tired of clampers causing them aggro and misery. We need to end that for the whole borough."
