Record results saw Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools buck national trends as GCSE grades were released.

Both the boys’ and the girls’ schools, in Commercial Road, Limehouse, recorded improved results from last year.

At the girls campus, 79 per cent of pupils gained five A*-C grades including English and maths, while 64 per cent of the boys hit that target.

Girls’ head Nick Soar said: “This year is the third year in a row that results have gone up at Bishop Challoner and this year’s are the highest the school has ever achieved. I am so proud of all the work the girls did over the last two years.”

Among the high achievers was Mila Mundrova, who brought home 10 A*s and two As.
