A PLAN outlining the development of Bishopsgate Goods Yard has been drafted.

Tower Hamlets and Hackney councils have been working together with the Mayor of London to draft the document which will guide how the 4.7 hectare site will be built on.

People will also be asked for their views on the plans for the site which is bounded by Bethnal Green Road, Commercial Street and Brick Lane in a formal public consultation which is due to start this month.

Members of Tower Hamlets council's cabinet agreed the draft plan and consultation at a meeting on Wednesday.

Concerns have been raised by neighbours to the site who say plans for skyscrapers on the site will over develop the site and block out light to large swathes of the East End.

Original plans did not contain any residential development but consultees said they wanted to see a mix of affordable family homes for East Enders.
