FIREFIGHTERS battled for three hours to tackle a blaze at a caf� in Bethnal Green.
Crews from four stations fought to stop the fire spreading from the ground floor Astro Star Caf� in Bethnal Green Road last night.
Residents from the flats above had already left their homes when fire crews from Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Shadwell and Old Kent Road stations arrived but they had to search the building as they had unconfirmed reports that a child was inside but found no one trapped in the building.

Fire broke out at about 9pm and crews are still investigating the cause of the blaze which destroyed half of the cafe.
