THE infamous Blind Beggar pub has been sold by its owners Enterprise Inns yesterday (Monday)
The former haunt of East End gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray and the scene of the murder of George Cornell was auctioned off to an unknown bidder for �1.26 million at a sale hosted by Allsop auctioneers.
Enterprise is selling off arrange of its pubs, which they plan to lease back from the new owners, in a bid to raise funds to dent its debt.
The pub will be leased back to Enterprise for a term of 35 years and will be sublet on a tied lease to the current licensee.
Wapping pub the Town of Ramsgate was also auctioned by Allsop yesterday. It was sold by Enterprise for �1.11 million.
