A man has been taken to hospital and a second treated at the scene after a fire broken out at a block of flats in Bethnal Green this afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on the fifth and sixth floor of Kinsham House in Ramsey Street, just after 2.20pm.

The crews from Whitechapel, Dowgate, Islington and Kentish Town fire stations tackled the blaze which took just over an hour to put out.

The man taken to hospital is being treated for smoke inhalation.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
