Volunteers at social care projects in London’s deprived East End are taking part in year-long celebrations “in relay” for the 25th anniversary of the charity that runs them.
Blue Skies day care service in Bow received a silver trophy from Vibrance social care, which it keeps for a week or so before passing it on to another East End project.
The trophy is visiting all 26 services run by Vibrance, like a 26-mile marathon, but in relays from project to project across London and the South East.
The Blue Skies project for adults with lerning issues is holding the trophy until passing it on to Spitalfields’ Phoenix Blend community care café in Bell Lane on Monday, for the next celebration relay.
Vibrance is helping 850 adults with learning disabilities and employs 400 staff. The charity was named one of the “best 100 companies to work for” in a national Sunday newspaper poll in 2012.
