OVER 90 illegal migrants were arrested during a crackdown on unlawful workings at the London Olympic and new Stratford City sites.

The UK Border Agency made 93 arrests over the past seven months.

Fifty of those arrests were linked with the Olympic Park and Village itself with six illegal migrants found working on the 2012 site. The other 44 were arrested attempting to work on the Olympic Park.

The remaining 43 arrests were of foreign nationals seeking work on the Westfield Stratford City development, which is separate to the Olympic site next to it.

An ODA spokesman said: "In the vast majority of cases those arrested have not done a minute's work on the Park. They have been arrested before setting foot on the site through the screening checks set up for all potential workers. The border agency has been on site for almost two years checking documentation for workers before they can gain employment on the Park. In this way we make sure that only those legally entitled to work can do so."

So far 10,000 people have worked on the Olympic Park and Village.
