LONDON Assembly Member John Biggs is backing calls for a passenger pier at Wapping.
The Labour member for city and East wants East Enders and tourists to access riverbus services from the pier.
Backing pleas to have river boat passenger services stop at Wapping, Mr Biggs asked Mayor Boris Johnson if he would support the necessary works to bring the pier into public use.
But he said the Mayor has pledged TfL would support proposals to upgrade the pier only if someone else pays for the work.
John said "Mayor Johnson has said he wants to expand and improve river services in London, but won't put his money where his mouth is.
"I believe there is a business case for providing the capital to bring the pier into use, and I will continue to lobby the Mayor and campaign to make this happen.
