The hot tips he’ll be giving is like sending coals to Newcastle, but the entrepreneur from East London’s famous ‘curry mile’ has been selected as the sole British restauranteur to the prestigious five-day ‘Taste of Britain’ curry festival.

The festival in Sri Lanka starting on Wednesday is serving up culinary knowledge shared between Sri Lankan and British palettes.

Ahad is showing how it’s done in Britain, then returns to east London at the end of the month with secrets from Sri Lanka to his City Spice eatery in Brick Lane, which won ‘best restaurant’ title at both the Bangladesh Caterers and 2017 Masterchef awards, as well as ‘best curry restaurant in London’ in last year’s Asian Curry awards.

It was his string of awards that drew attention of the organisers, Curry Life trade magazine, who invited him to represent Brick Lane as part of the UK delegation to the Sri Lanka festival.
