Tower Hamlets is home to Britain’s second most dangerous road, new research has revealed.

The A107, which runs from Whitechapel to Hackney and incorporates Cambridge Heath Road, has an accident rate of 8.38 per million miles driven.

The research found that the top 10 most dangerous roads in the country are in London.

The A11, which runs through the borough as Whitechapel High Street, Mile End Road and Bow Road, also makes the list of Britain’s 50 most dangerous roads, ranking as 27th with an accident rate of 2.29.

Angela Bahn of RegTransfers, which carried out the research, said: “It’s the roads that see more accidents per vehicle-mile which we should be most wary of - the ones drivers may actually feel safer on in comparison to a motorway or country lane.”
