TELECOM bosses are offering a£15,000 reward to catch the gang which has been raiding high-tech equipment from London’s telephone exchanges.

The cash is being given by BT for information on the latest raid—a burglary at East London’s Stepney Green exchange that took down phone and internet communications in homes and businesses.

“We have decided to offer a reward to bring those responsible for this and similar burglaries in London to justice,” said BT’s security director Mark Hughes. “We take these burglaries seriously.”

The raiders hit the exchange in Commercial Road before dawn on September 25 when they bagged nine 21CN network cards costing thousands of pounds each.

They struck two weeks after thieves hit another London exchange in Mayfair.

Gear worth millions was swiped while police and photographers thronged outside the pub next door where Guy Ritchie was throwing a party to celebrate the release of his new film.
