The bulldozers moved in on Friday to make way for nine new homes on the site of a disused 1960s office block.

Demolition work began last week to make a start on a £1.4million redevelopment aimed at bringing more affordable housing to Usher Road in Bow.

Old Ford Housing Association chiefs predict families could move into the homes next year.

Managing director June Ford said: “We look forward to seeing this site transformed into a smart new neighbourhood for local people.”

The office block was previously home to members of the housing association’s staff, who have moved to new offices in Polydamas Close, Bow.
